Here is how I used Tri-X when I was a PJ.

I at one time used  Tri-X for no light situations at EI 6400. Develop in
Dektol 1:1 for 3 min at 80 degrees F with constant agitation. This
warrants experimentation with dilution, time and agitation for your
particular situation.  I used it for available light night high-school
football.
