Nathan, replacing the aperture ring is a normal part of Leica's 2-cam to 3-cam conversion.  This is done so ahtat the aperture numerals will line up properly with the aperture viewing window in the viewfinders of the R3 through R7 bodies.  The last time I had a conversion done, Sherry's quote was less than Leica USA's.
