Subject: [Leica] Off topic: finding a portrait studio

There seem to be hundreds of professional photographers on this list. I
thought I'd risk asking a question only peripherally related to Leicas.

I want to have a family portrait made of my family. I have the
misfortune of being very picky about photography, so I've been unable
to bring myself to do the sort of "factory portraits" of the variety
typefied by Olan Mills. I am also not wealthy, so I don't want to spend
many thousands of dollars.

25 years ago I used to make money on the side by doing portrait
photography. My customers were folks very much like what I am now. I'd
love to find some photographer to do this. I can't take my own
portrait (I've tried; it doesn't work, even with a radio trigger).

My question is: how do I look for a portrait photographer who could do
this? When I use yellow pages and web searches, all I find are the
national chains. Is there some forum, some directory, some meeting
ground where independent portrait photographers announce their
existence and look for work?
