You are correct that it has no special engraving. Only 500 cameras are to be built, to the best of my knowledge. The finish is much closer to the matt finish of the R3 Safari, rather than the glossy finish of my olive M3. It is therefore more 'tropical' than 'military'. I hope this will ease the minds of a few.
