Subject: [Leica] Re: [LEICA] Why use center-weighted metering with R8?

Dear All,

Thanks for the responses to my question. There seems to be a broad
consensus that matrix metering is good when you need to shoot quickly
but that it is unpredictable and doesn't allow the photog to take
charge of what's going on. Center-weighted metering, on the other hand,
is predictable and can be used to control the exposure depending on the
photog's preferences. (This applies, of course, to selective metering
as well but I was never in doubt about that).

I know the long-term answer to my question is to gain practical
experience, which no amount of reading or Q&A activity can replace.
Therefore, I will go and take some more pictures. However, up to now, I
must say that I've never been disappointed by the results from either
the R8 or my previous R7, except for the times when I made a mistake,
which can happen with any camera.

Regards,

=====
Ray
