Simon's Cameras Inc. has been in business for over 70 years and has been one of Canada's largest Leica dealers for over 50. We have an international client base and can be reached by email, 1-800, and fax. Our listing of the 35-70mm f2.8 was our very first on this forum and we intended to offer other desireable items. This lens had been in our store, ticketed at $5500.00, so our customers were already aware we had it. I, myself, posted the FS listing of the lens with only the email address. I, myself, monitored the email replies. The fact that someone had gone to our site, got our 1-800 number and called almost immediately to buy the lens was not relayed to me. As soon as I became aware of the situation, I immediately contacted Joseph Yao by email to inform him that I could not conclude the offer to him. And, as Arthur has mentioned, a verbal contract is as good as a written one. And that verbal contract was indeed honored by us to the first buyer. Under no circumstance did the subsequent posting by John Collier affect this transaction in any way. In fact, I only saw his email after the lens was sold. I feel several people owe John an apology for their accusations. I hope that this will assist in clearing the air on this incident. I had wanted to make our our first posting one that would make people notice us, and that it certainly has done, however, not in the manner that I had expected. Finally, if people were that interested in this lens, then why didn't they contact the Canadian distributor for Leica. I am sure they would have either given our name or had us contact them. Thank you, Simmy Mendelson
