Feliciano,
Yes, there was a 6x6 projector.

Of course Leitz were making large format projectors before their 35mm
interests in 1925.
There was a projector, code named PETROL, released in 1937 that took
transparencies up to 4 3/4" x 3 1/4" in size, this was powered by
parrafin/kerosene and used an air pump to ensure bright illumination.
Sounds like fun!

I'd reccomend looking no further back than the Prado series, which were
from the early 1950s onwards till 1968, for a 6x6 Leitz projector.
The Prado 66 was a Prado 250(watt) or 500(w) with different slide holder,
condensor and heat filter, to enable medium format projection. Many
conversions were made. Original code name, YACUU.

In 1968 the Prado Universal replaced the classic rounded forms of the
250/500/66 with its box like shape. Much more advanced technically it
accomodated lenses up to 500mm long. Code 31628 for 6x6 projection.
Catalogues finally listed them in 1984.

Good luck!

Jem

Anyone know if Leica/Leitz ever made a projector that could
handle both 35mm and 6x6/6x4.5 or just medium format?

thanks,

feli

Max: Here Franz, take the money- go out and buy bullets and shoot all
the actors, they're the ones ridiculing your beloved Fuehrer...
Leo: What!? You can't do that, you can't shoot the actors,
     they're not animals!
Max: They're not?!? Have you ever eaten with one???
