I cannot agree more; probably there are many folks out there (at least
nearly all my friends who
use SLR systems) waiting for Leica to make R lenses for their Nikon or Canon
mounts. This might
halt the potential demise of the R system. There is a side-note from a
writer in a local photography
magazine a few months ago, who claimed to have "insider knowledge", that
Leica is going to make
R lenses for other camera mounts. I hope it wouldn't just be wild guesses.

BTW, the Nikon 45mm f/2.8P chrome lens is already available thru an
authorized dealer in Hong Kong.
It is not unlike the Contax Zeiss T* 45/2.8 in shape, except the colour. It
is cheap too: retail price
about US$275. I have tried this lens and it is sharp with good contrast and
vivid colour rendition.
It comes with a matching chrome-coloured filter (!), plastic hood and cap.
