How convenient is it? > > Jim The Benser Base Plate is an interesting beast. It was designed for pre-M-4 cameras and lenses which are not as hefty as todays ASP/APO lenses. You have a lug on one side of the camera (Leica can and will add a lug to the other side for a fee) so the entire contraption is held on by a screw on the take up side. This can be a little lightweight if you mount two modern lenses on the plate at the same time. Of course you will not be mounting the 21/24/35 ASP/APO lenses on to the plate because the interior depth isn't deep enough, unless you have a good MP/Camera Machinist cut a hole in the bottom of the rewind side of the lens mount and then remount it to the plate. So just image the 90mm APO/ASP on one side and the Noctilux on the other side and you have a hand full....but then of course you can ditch all the camera bags and the 90 is a nice vetical grip and if you wacked some one across the side of the head like a videographer she will go down and if you got passport it doesn.t matter. Of course you could leave the plate off the camera attach a camera strap to the camera lug holes and have a very nice locking lens carrier you can sling over your other shoulder. Leave the lens caps at home and your ready to go. One camera three lenses no camera bag, photgraphers vest, fanny pack, haliburton case with wheels. Couple rolls of APX 25,one camera three lenses and be there! My opinion only. regards asparaco/chicago
