The abuse heaped on John Collier for his benign comment on the price of an
item listed for sale on a quasi public form is unacceptable and truly
revealing of the venal character of some the forum participants. It is easy
to visualize some participants discovering a rare and historically
significant Leica at a widows's garage sale and buying it for $25.00 and
feeling great about it.
You guys remind me of the fools driving up the price of Harleys a few years
ago. All the boys with the $30,000 Road Kings looked like fools when they
came available in sufficient quantity to drive the price to retail. The lens
in question is not important in the historical sense. Its primary value is
to prove the continuing inepitude of Leica and their failure to produce what
should be an expected part of any reflex system.
