A company named Mercedes never existed, at least in this context. It was a name of the daughter of a distributor who agreed to distribute the cars if they name them after his daughter's name. So, it's merely a brand name. DaimlerChrysler owns the brands, Mercedes-Benz and Chrysler. How do you pronounce DaimlerChrysler in German? Chrysler is silent.
