Unfortunately all our stock has been sold and I don't know if there is any dealer some where in the world that has this lens in stock as everybody was anxious to take delivery the moment it came into the dealers stores. At present I don't know if we at any time later will come with an improved version of it onto the market again but in case we should them we will make an officila announcement. Sorry for neing unable to give you a positive reply. Kind regards Leica Camera AG E. Kuhne Eberhard, I am writing to you in regards to the above lens. I am an avid leica user both M & R and enjoy both system a lot. I have been looking very hard to find and purchase this lens but to my dismay I have heard you (leica) has discontinued this lens. Why? Can you refer a dealer or somebody who has this lens for sale? When would resume production of this lens? Thanks in advance - ------------------------------------------- Thanks, Mehrdad > -----Original Message----- > From: owner-leica-users@mejac.palo-alto.ca.us > [mailto:owner-leica-users@mejac.palo-alto.ca.us]On Behalf Of Dr. Joseph > Yao > Sent: Saturday, February 17, 2001 4:04 AM > To: leica-users@mejac.palo-alto.ca.us > Subject: Re: [Leica] Re: 35-70 f/2.8 zoom > > > on 17/2/01 6:50 PM, Sal DiMarco,Jr. at sdmp007@pressroom.com wrote: > > > Apparently, the problems were so big, they were losing money on > each lens. > > Money was not an issue here, since I offered to pay for their costs plus a > profit margin of any size they desired. > > Leica made a terrible mistake of selling the lens at US$1,500. > If they had > anticipated the production difficulties, they would have priced it > differently and it would have worked out for both the manufacturer and > consumers. > > I am not really concerned how much they want to charge for this > lens, I just > want to buy one.
