"Eddie Parker who inspired the film "The Hustler had died after falling ill at a
poll tournament. He was 69."
He had a heart attack during a game. How apropos!
He is credited with inspiring Walter Tevis to write the book and screenplay for
the 1961 classic, "The Hustler" in which Paul Newman played the role of Parker.
