The Marais district between Bastille and the Pompidou centre is also very good - lots of narrow streets and old buildings. I've always had a soft spot for the area around the pyramids at the Louvre - lots of people and some interesting backgrounds. Also the Palais Royale is just around the corner. When I was there I found that I was using the 35mm lens most of the time, I don't have a 28mm, but I suspect that if I did I would have had a second body with that on it. One thing you _must_ do, even in March, is have an ice cream from one of the Bertillon shops on Isle St Loius, simply the best ice cream in the world (or at least the best that I've ever had). Expensive at 10 francs a ball but superb. May have a 28mm Elmarit by then but not sure. I've been to Paris three times but only once with the Leica. I'd appreciate anyone relaying great photo experiences in Paris and good photo spots other than the obvious ones.....also, any Luggers on the list planning to be there at the same time? We could get together for some Leica conversation, beverages, and maybe a meal. By the way....visited my local camera shop today and handled a Leica 10x50 Trinovid binocular....if you think Leica's photo optics are outstanding, this binocular with make your stand and sing! Unbelievable clarity, ease of focusing, and an external pupil diameter that makes the twilight come alive with brilliance. With a $1200 price tag, they're a bit (ok a lot) steep but I can easily see myself taking the plunge. Bought a Zeiss 8 x 30 binocular last October and their fabulous as well. Best to all, Robert Clark Lancaster, PA
