If "properly" means something like the awful front ends that come with the HP PhotoSmart or Nikon LS-30 scanners, this would be the worst thing that could possibly happen to Ed's software. Vuescan's front end may not be glitzy and may be "techie" oriented, but it's simple and functional -- just like the Leica. Ed has put together a great package, especially at $40 for both Vuescan and Vueprint, with support for Linux, Mac and PC, and he personally responds promptly to my emails on the rare occasions on which I've contacted him about the software. With all that, I found it hard to believe, but now that I do, I find it hard to beat. Great job, Ed!
