Subject: [Leica] 3 element Elmar

A problem with this lens was that when you changed f-stops the focus ring was also
moved - you had to remember to set aperture first, then focus second! A nice looking
thing, I'm told that it used the same glass type used in the 50/1.2 Noctilux, hence
allowing Leitz to dispense with the fourth element.
The collapsible 90/4 was optically identical with the 90/4 rigid made from 1949-1963:
4 elements.
Strangely, Wetzlar issued the 3 element in screwmount 4 years after they stopped
making the IIIg.
