Summicron = Summit + Chroma, meaning "the summit of color (chromatic)
correction.

Elmar:  Wasn't this the name of someone's wife?  Like maybe Oscar Barnack's?
Or the lens designer?  What was his name?  Max Berek.  Maybe his wife.  Best
