Does anyone else have any ideas?<< Sorry for the delay in replying to this. As usual, I'm behind in my LUG reading. Split filter printing can work with a tungsten light source. You just need to find the right filtration. I personally never had much success with tungsten heads, probably because I never found the right filter combination. But in theory it should work. Using an Aristo cold light head I got the results I wanted without much effort. I experimented with a couple of different gels to get essentially #2 grade with no below the lens filter. (I cut a piece of that gel and put it in the head). Then I played around with some other filters to get the highest and lowest contrast I could find. I used some recommendations, but I think everyone has a slightly different view of this. There's no "one right way", IMHO. You may have great success with tungsten. It all depends. The cold light head that I have is not very expensive. I've seen them used for around $100. Nearly every one I've seen used is for a D2. I tried to print a neg over the weekend that I couldn't get right, no matter how hard I tried. Everything looked muddy. I spent hours and hours and finally gave up. I printed several other negs on the same roll -- exposed under the same conditions -- with great results in 30 minutes or less. Printing is challenging. That's why it never gets old. Dave
