Colen jotted down the following: > Well, okay, I know I'm missing the brown finger nails, and the ruined lungs, > and the strained eyes, and the white crystals all over everything, and the > damp, and the muck...but what else am I missing? ;-) > The whole point -- willfully, I suspect ;) I want a wet darkroom because I want to learn the craft of printing. I'm not interested in doing it on a computer because I sit infront of one 10-15 hours per day as it is. At some point, I'd like to learn about alternative processes and do platinum-palladium printing from 5x7" negs, or bromoil prints from 6x9cm Agfa Clack negs. I don't care if it's quicker and easier to make prints on a computer. I don't care that my prints won't last 5000 years. Photography is ephemeral. Deal with it. I don't care that making 100 prints is much harder than making one. I want a wet darkroom BECAUSE it's that much harder to make 100 prints than 1 print. That way, when I give a matted, framed 11x14 print to someone for their birthday, it'll mean something more than if I popped the Zip disk into the drive and hit "print". There is satisfaction to be gained in doing well at something that requires effort.
