You could ask for more. If you're not selling any now it can't hurt.

A big problem is the 1-hour-photo-and-after-all-anyone-can-take-a-picture 
mentality which we probably can't beat. I think its better to find 
someone who appreciates your work than to try to do much missionary work 
to change the mind of the folks who do not appreciate what you do. They 
don't have to like what you do. They can think real photography is about 
some celebrity on the cover of People which they buy for $1.25 

This is what I try to do as much as harsh reality will permit:
Do what you like to do and someone out there will probably like it too. 
Even if they don't at least you'll be pleasing yourself.
