It's a matter of using the appropriate tool for the job at hand, and for personal preferences. If I used much flash then either the R7 or R8 would be much preferable to any earlier Leicaflex or R camera. I've mentioned in the past that I like using the R4sP for family snapshots with the shorter lenses (up to 90mm) but whem I'm using longer lenses the larger size of a Leicaflex or R8 is more comfortable for me, and since my most-used lenses are the f/6.8 Telyts, viewfinder brightness is a big deal to me. I also have a phobia about battery dependance. I'll be the first to admit my preference for a Leicaflex over an R camera is in good measure an emotional issue. For me, making photographs is an emotional process as well as a technical process. Having used both I've found that for whatever reasons I'm more productive with the SL than with an R.
