I rarely use my hood with my 1st version aspheric 35 (I figure the hood
itself may become a collectable, since it is of a different design than the
current asph hood ;-) ), but I have never encountered any obvious signs
of flare etc. as a result of the missing lens hood. I assume that the
flare characteristics of the two versions should be the same. (yes, no?)

(and I ALWAYS use UV filters on the lens, as well as all my other lenses).
