Subject: Re: [Leica] Which used 75/1.4 to get

All the 75mm lenses are optically identical but manufacturing and coating
technologies have changed quite a great deal since the lens was introduced
in 1980. The first mount had a separate hood but in 1982 it was redesigned
to have a built in sliding hood. A couple of years ago, production was
shifted from Canada to Germany and the mount was redesigned again. The
present lens is a little lighter but as far as I know, still optically the
same. A very long way of saying that any version would be a goods choice,
with the caveat that eventually spare hoods (same as the E60 Noctilux hood)
might be difficult to find for the first version.
