Perhaps the later cameras are more fully compatible with Leica lenses. The Konica rangefinder and frame selector designs seem very much like Leicas so no doubt the cameras CAN be adjusted to work with Leica glass. We've seen new Leicas, just out of the box, with analogous problems. I hear from my automobile-owning friends that this happens with new cars quite a lot too! Personally I avoid the clunkers.
