I understand that the COC gets fuzzy and truly starts to be out of focus just as soon as it moves away from the plane of focus. Its not as if the image has a sharp cut off in that one side of the DOF is OK while the other side is out of focus. Its a sliding scale and surely it must have some subjectivity. Does this mean that lenses of the same focal length but of different quality have a different DOF because the COC is tighter on the plane of focus. I know that large format lenses have a larger COC than small format because the negative does not have to enlarged so much. So what gives? Alan
