    Sound engineering can nonetheless become part of the production in a very 
important way, in the right context.  What might be inappropriate engineering 
technique for opera might make a world of difference with Dire Straits, as I 
believe it did, if memory serves.  
    Likewise the "digital darkroom", which I have personally yet to enter.  
It is still a question of appropriateness and aesthetic good sense.  In any 
case, I believe the process deserves its own name, for the sake of its own 
integrity
