In fact, DAG told me that the M3 DS had expensive shutter damping which was never seen again in the Leica line: it is the quietest of the M's. And the LTM's, I suspect: it's certainly quieter than my IIIc, which sounds much like an M4-P. I forget whether this technology extends into the single-stroke M3's or not. But the difference is astonishing: I believe this M3 may even be quieter than my old Hexar -- the original, with the silent feature, and one of the quietest cameras ever made. My much lamented Rolleiflexes were almost this quiet, mind you. Sold all three of them, and had I four feet, I would be kicking myself in parallel. DC
