I will begin by defining categories: please feel free to add/subtract or comment * The Seven ages of man * The Works of Man: great and small * Portraits: individual * Portraits: group and family * Tradional skills in a modern world * Work in the new Millenium * Beliefs and Faith * Pastimes, sports and pleasure * Glimpses of the future * Reflections of our past * Inhumanity Images can be sent to me probably at a 600 x 400 pixel jpg size, or a URL can be sent, and I can point the exhibits page to your server -- this would be preferable as it will save me a lot of space and stop my ISP getting "worried". I intend at this stage to exhibit all entries on a web site, divided into the above/or modified categories. Judging will be in November of each year, and the selected images from that year will be highlighted in a web exhibit to be seen over the Christmas New Year period, before the beginnings of the new years collection. I will also produce a CD rom of the years winning images which anyone in the project will be able to purchase at "cost". At this stage I would see this as some form of perhaps pdf file, but some of you may not want your work distributed on CD's -- I envisage the quality being no higher than the web exhibits, which anyone can download, so I am presuming this would not be a problem, but let me know. By returning your CD at the end of each year you will have the next phase added to the collection. At least this way, if the project dies after 3 years, we all have something to remember it by ;-) Judging will be open to anyone involved in the project, or perhaps open to the entire LUG or perhaps we need outside advise/judges. I favour the former. To register for the project, please e-Mail me at firkin@netconnect.com.au I will start a project database. You do not have to submit work to register interest -- after all, you have 5 years to submit work, but I would like a list of interested parties so that I can keep everyone informed both on and off the LUG. It will also allow me to call for help from those interested ;-) Next some questions: Does anyone know if we can use the name Family of Man II, or do we need permission/a new name? I would like the project to reflect the origins of the Edward Steichen concept, and so I favour using the original title if at all possible. At this time I would call it: The Family of Man II Leica Users Group Project A celebration of humanity. Does anyone object to me co-ordinating the project, at least in its embryonic form? More as we go along. cheers Alastair Firkin http://users.netconnect.com.au/~firkin/AGFhmpg.html
