When used with the Leica M6 TTL, the earlier version (pre 09/98) of this adapter (SCA 3501) causes the aperture value in the display of the Metz flash units 40MZI, 40MZ2, 40MZ3i, 50MZ5 and future models to blink when they are selected for value change by manual input. With the earlier version of the adapter, the aperture value on the flash unit cannot be changed in the settings 'TTL' and 'm' because the aperture value is not transferred to the flash unit with the Leica M6 TTL. The partial light performance indicator also continued to blink if it differed from 'I'. Metz changed the software control of this adapter from the end of September 1998. This is confirmed by Metz web site at the following address: <http://www.metz.de/mecablitz/eng/leica.html> The M6 TTL need the 3501 as of M1 (modification 1). By the way, Jonathan Eastland confirm on page 78, that the flash contact which is the closest of the front of the camera is not in use presently on the M6TTL (and R8). (page 78) This was also in the instruction book of the Leica SF20 flashgun. Which explain why the Contax's TLA Extension Cord 100 works on the M6TTL without problem, even with only 3 contacts instead of 4 on the M6TTL flash socket. Lucien
