Nikkor 85 f1.4. OR b.) Contax 85 f1.4. I like the focal lengths from 85mm through 100mm for my portrait work. I do currently own the Leica R 90 f2.8 & the R 100 apo f2.8. In addition, I've been working with a Nikon F100/85 f1.8 combo as well. I do like autofocus at times for my informal portrait work. I will keep my Leica gear no matter what ;-)! Thus, it's a matter of getting either a Nikkor 85 f1.4 (replacing my 85 f1.8) OR a Contax N1/85 f1.4 combo by trading in my Nikon system. I would appreciate comments that would elucidate any subtle differences beween my Leica glass ( 90f2.8 and/or the 100 apo f2.8) from Leica users who have "used" these Contax & Nikkor 85 f1.4 lenses. Please understand I'm aware that my quest contains irrational elements; i.e, two SLR systems with overlapping focal lengths. However, given the "gap" in the Leica R system; i.e., no "fast" portrait lens ( 85-100, f1.4/f2 ); it's time to consider an alternative SLR system........with the added bonus of autofocus when needed ;-)! All comments highly appreciated; it's decision time! Tom D.
