I thought I knew him (his work) pretty well and thought he was too "effete" to lower himself to color; even then. As Erwin tells us the out of focus areas in a quality lens is part of the intregal design of that lens. It would seem any quality lens would not be likely to have bad "bokeh" unless it was a special purpose lens. The fact that HCB was both a formalist as well as a grab shot artist simultaneously makes him for me an unmatchable enigma. Mark William Rabiner
