Every quirk of HCB's work has been discussed here and it seems many of us are
intimately aware of what he had for breakfast that morning on every single shot
he ever did.
I thought I knew him (his work) pretty well and thought he was too "effete" to
lower himself to color; even then. As Erwin tells us the out of focus areas in a
quality lens is part of the intregal design of that lens. It would seem any
quality lens would not be likely to have bad "bokeh" unless it was a special
purpose lens.
The fact that HCB was both a formalist as well as a grab shot artist
simultaneously makes him for me an unmatchable enigma.
