Subject: [Leica] Ebay and LUG

As a newcomer to LUG I am amazed at the heat generated over members who
dare to mention that they have some Leica equipment for purchase on Ebay.

It is a pity that inter member relationships are not always kept on a
friendly level. I find it more distasteful to see postings which 'put down'
other members or seek to score points against them. I would also prefer not
to see in print, certain expletives used by some, which I might resort to
if I accidentally hit my thumb with a hammer!

It seems that these objections of mine are not shared by those who regard
the posting of references to items the member has for sale on Ebay, as
something approaching a capital offence. It isn't so much the fact that to
them such action is improper (we are all entitled to our opinions)- but the
manner in which they express their indignation that I think is 'over the top'.

This 'sales publicity' doesn't offend me in the slightest and I don't
think it warrants trying to make the poster feel like a leper. One might
argue that buying on Ebay from a LUG member, is, in a way, some extra
reassurance.

Let's keep it friendly at all times please!!
