Hans-Peter,

In principle you have to pay customs duty (if any) plus the local VAT, in
your case 16%. But of course you can make an arrangement with Tom to avoid
this. For instance, he is coming to Photokina in September, so you could
just ask him to bring the Rapidwinder and do everything in cash on the spot
in Cologne.
