Subject: [Leica] Would Ansel Adams shoot Leica..not much
From: "Dan S" <>
Date: Wed, 02 Aug 2000 21:10:47 GMT

Adams was a Contax user up to the end of the Contaflex. (a camera he praised

Only late in life did he use an R4.

In the 50's he occasionally used Leicas and was actually in one of their
ads, but none of his important photos were shot with the brand.

The Stieglitz photo and a famous one of Georgia O'Keefe was shot with a
Contax range finder.

Best Wishes

>>I think it depends on the person rather than the equipment. If you're the
>>contemplative type, you'll spend a long time on the shot no matter what
>>of box is on the tripod. My buddy shoots excellent macro stuff of flowers
>>with an F5 - he can spend an hour or more getting the shot he wants.
>>Old-time PJs using large format gear like Speed Graphics tended to operate
>>more on instinct, just like their later counterparts with motorized Nikon
>>And what's this about 'blads? Wedding photographers are neither
>>or very careful with their gear.
