I had an M2 I used with a 35 Summicron with M3 eyes.  Sure enough, the 50 
frame was activated, but the lower finder magnification and further reduction 
in the eyes made it a perfect match.  Keep in mind that the eyes were in fact 
designed to be used with the 50 frameline on the M3.  Try it and see for 
yourself.
