Hello All!

I would appreciate views on the dewirability of my purchasing the following
projector:-
Leitz Pradovit Color 250 Autofocus projector + Colorplan
90/f2.5 lens + timer + leads + magazine + cover + box Price £119 ( I am
in the UK - equivelant US price $178)
I believe that although this particular model is now out of production
, combined with the lens it is a good package....??
I have spoken to the dealers offering this equipment and they explain
that this projector was owned bya lady who travelled around giving slide
shows/lectures. The autofocus developed an intermittent fault so that if a
slide 'popped' re-focusing might have to be done manually. Otherwise it is
funtioning OK - cosmetically the paintwork shows signs of use but the
projector does not look 'knocked about'.
I have spoken to two repairers of photographic equipment - they are
unable to give an estimate for repair without checking the fault, but say
that a potential problem is that no spares are available. One said that the
problem is probably a worn plastic wheel which can't be replaced. Leica
themselves sounde confident of sorting out the problem - they quoted £119
(plus tax@17.5%)plus extra for any parts......!!!
The price is obviously far less than for a fault free projectorand
having just bought a 2 year old Leica M6 and Summicron 50mm f2.0 lens the
bank a/c is somewhat the worse for wear!
I am interested in a projector for home use and refocusing manually
probably wouldn't bother me too much....

Regards -
