This issue is more important with an M than with an SLR because with the SLR, whatever's in focus in the viewfinder (assuming correct mirror & viewscreen alignment) will be in focus at the film plane. >> Yes, this is what I suspected. I called and asked my friend who runs a nationally-known camera repair shop about the "special tools" needed to change a Leica R4 lensmount and he kind of chuckled and said "a hand and a screwdriver".
