The R7 is the most trouble free electronic R camera Leica has made. It's
the last of a model type and basically all of the bugs were worked out and
the build process, by that time, was flawless as well.

The R8 is a completely different camera and got off to a very rocky start.
Many many problems. Like any new design. But things have smoothed out and
the R8 is now considered a reasonably trouble free camera. There is not
enough history yet to state that it is completely trouble free.

The R8 has many advances over the R7 that are useful. One in particular
that is nice is that all modes of exposure control work in all modes of
camera operation. You are not limited to just spot metering in manual mode
like the R7, etc. And the R8 has a built-in flash meter, matrix metering,
etc...

Go to the Leica web site to see all of the features.
