Forget Hasselblad and Rolleiflex it was a Minolta Hi-Matic that John Glen first snuck into space. And it's sitting in the Smithsonian accordingly. Right next to what? "In addition to the Hi-Matic there is a Mercury modified Leica IIIg on display. It is not clear if this was also carried on the Glenn mission. The Leica IIIg has been modified with a large optical viewfinder mounted in the accessory shoe (nothing like it in the Lager books, may be custom) and an enlarged winding knob. These modifications look like they were done at Leitz." So we have a Barnack in Space or what? Whose got the goods on the space issue for Leica? I didn't know there was one till tonight! Mark Rabiner
