Subject: [Leica] simple leica repairs

I've had a few problems with my M6's over the last few months. Jerky
parallax following and rough jerky shutter release on one, and vertical
misalignment on the other. I just solved the shutter release problem myself
this afternoon after a couple of fruitless attempts to solve the problem
via skilled repairmen (a small drop of sewing machine oil down the centre
of the release - _very_ small - and it's now as smooth as I could wish for)
while the jerky parallax following has pretty much solved itself . The
vertical misalignment is still a problem on the other body.
It seems to me that many of the problems commonly encountered with the M6
are minor and could be easily solved by the user with a few simple tools
and a good repair book. Rangefinder problems mainly. I'd be happy to pay,
say $150 for a gtood manual and the tools, just to know that the camera
wouldn't have to go off for 6 months for a dubiously effective repair job.
That I could fix it myself on assignment or during a long trip abroad.
Any offers? Does anyone know of such a manual or where the specialist tools
can be bought?
Rob.
