The Washington Port article was not the first instance where a new M is mentioned. There was an article in a major German newspaper last year in which Leica CEO Cohh spoke of a new M6 for this year, although he didn't mention whether it will be an AE M6. In addition, if you read the past annual reports in the Investor Relations section of the Leica website, you'll find that a few years back Leica already was planning this "new M for the millennium". Release of this new M has long been anticipated. Your host spoke of "no M7", which doesn't exclude the possibility of a new M6. In fact, "no M7, but a new M6" is what I believe Cohn said in the German article. Regards, Chris Lee > When I was visiting the Leica Solms factory a couple weeks ago, I asked, > jokingly, if we could see the new M7 rumored to be introduced at > Photokina in September. My host, Karl-Hans Weckler, smiled and said I > could bet there would be no M7 at this Photokina. He said Leica will > have some interesting new products and declined to say anything further > about exactly what. He said we will see an M7 someday but not this > year. So it sounded to me like we should all stop holding our > collective breaths waiting for the Photokina announcement of a new M7. > > I also interpret his remarks not to exclude another version of the M6. > > Ken Lassiter > Boynton Beach, FL >
