when did ol' jayne bite the ... dust? i thought it was in the early years
of the '60s. if that was the case, those photogs nipping at her heels were
not forerunners, but descendants of the original papparazzo and his
cohorts, who appeared in fellini's 'dolce vita' which came out in 1960.
(and let us not forget that the term 'papparazzi' is named for the scoop
photog papparazzo in that wonderful film.)

course, if she went south *pre* 1960, the aforementioned heel-nippers were
indeed forerunners of the felliniesque photogs.
