Leica don't recommend it and probably most Noctilux users will tell you to forget it. May I ask, "Why would you use a filter, certainly not for protection, and if so, from what?" I've had mine since the f 1.0 came out way back when, and it's been used hard, but well. It's never had a filter on and since the little locking pins fell out of the lens to hold the lens shade in place, it's been used without lens shade! Horrors! Oh my God what have I confessed to? I'll be banned from the LUG for non lens shade use! :-( Just be careful in handling and don't worry about dust, just blow it off or shoot through it for effect. ;-) Don't become overly caught up in the techie stuff and use the lens as much as you can by feel of the moment. Certainly learn how to use it at f 1.0! If you don't, why bother spending the money and not use it for what it was meant for, shooting by available darkness. If you have any questions about the Noctilux send the old guy a note privately and I'll try to answer it. ted > Oh my god!!! > > Another Noctilux bites the dust! > > RIP :-( > > The reason Leica says no filters on the Noctilux is spelled out on the > Leica web site.
