I used to carry a monopod everywhere, but I found it cumbersome to follow action...I always seemed at the wrong height. Now I use (quite successfully) a piece of 'parachute cord' with a bead at one end and a 1/4" eye bolt at the other. You screw the bolt into the tripod mount on the bottom of your camera body and step on the cord next to the bead and pull up placing tension on the cord. This provides you with an easily pocketable camera stabilizer that can add 1 or 2 stops to your shooting. While not as cool looking as an antigravity emitter with gyroscopic stabilization, it is much cheaper and non radioactive. Carpe Lumen, Michael E. Berube http://www.goodphotos.com
