Does this lend take a 'standard' filter (by standard I mean one that > can be bought in a high street camera shop)? If so what size? Before ser#2166700 E41 screw in filters. After ser#2166700 filtersize changed to series 7. They changed in 1966 or 1967, so you must carefully check which one it is you have. The first one has a diameter of 46,5 mm and clearly has screwthread inside. The second one a diameter of 42mm and no screwtrhread. Both filtersizes should still be available in any good shop. > > I don't really want to re-open the can of worms regarding whether or not a > UV filter should or should not be used, but I'm going Island hopping in > Greece and Turkey (or should that be island hopping in Greece and bus > hopping in Turkey :-) shortly and although I don't usually use a filter I'm > feel happier with one for this trip. Salt and sand are terrible to any any lens and espescially the soft coating on the older lenses can use some protection on atrip like this. > > Incidentally I've been amazed at the quality of images produces by this > lens.
