[Author Prev] [Author Next] [Thread Prev] [Thread Next] [Author Index] [Topic Index] [Home] [Search]I've decided this topic is getting out of hand as far as my participation goes. I never set out to be the chief critic of street photography. Maybe I should just shut up for awhile. If people like street photography what business is it of mine to question that? If people want to shoot in this style, that's fine with me. At least they're shooting. I guess to sum up, here's my final word (which was also pretty much my original word) on the topic: There are a few guys who shoot pictures of strangers on the street who do a great job and make interesting pictures. There are a whole bunch of other guys who produce terribly bad pictures and try to pass it off as art. This is certainly not a profound statement. It's true of EVERY branch of photography from weddings to rock-n-roll concert photography to photojournalism to fashion to large format rock-and-tree photography -- In each style the posers far outnumber the geniuses -- why should "street photography" be any different?
