This was an early lens, a 50 mm, which by pulling it forward and past a stop, and slipping on a pair of goggles in front of the VF/RF windows allowed the lens to focus to a distance of 17 or 18 inches instead of 39. This allowed moderate closeup capabilty, covering a 7" x 10" or so area. The eyes or goggles corrected for focus and parallax. It is a very capable lens in its own right, and being able to switch quickly for a bit of closeup work has its attractions. I wonder what Leica would charge for a modern version of this system?? :) Noel Charchuk http://telusplanet.net/public/nhcharch
