[Author Prev] [Author Next] [Thread Prev] [Thread Next] [Author Index] [Topic Index] [Home] [Search]for the street shooters among us: i just stumbled across a book that you probably already know about, but i thought i'd mention it in the event you didn't. it's called 'bystander: a history of street photography,' by westerbeck and meyerowitz, and was published in '94 by bullfinch press. as the title suggests, it traces the history of this style of photography (i don't think you could call it a genre; it seems too broad for that label), from atget and his contemporaries to the present. lots of reproductions and not too much critical comment. also, it features a shot or two by one street photographer whose name doesn't often come up on the lug (maybe 'cause he ditched leicas for nikons): raghubir singh, who died a year or two ago, if i recall. just thought i'd mention it. guy
