Truly. Never use the Nikon strobe on normal, ever. You can bracket with an exposure down to minus 1.7. Keep your head on straight, because a positive compensation is a reduction in power. Make sure the little lines stack up to the left. Or use the M and set the strobe for one stop below ambient. Or a stop and a half for more "natural" look. Hold strobe high and center so shadow fall behind and open fire. If you are using either camera on a tripod with a group holding still, you could easily go down to 1/15th and give yourself some depth of field. The SB strobes would go down beyond f/8 with 800 speed field. So you might have to use manual (rather than auto) with the Leica. No sweat with the Nikon. If you really want to fine tune things for color neg, find a store (maybe photo, but probably a theatrical lighting shop) and get a Rosco pack of gel samples and use either the 1/8 CTO warming or the Bastard Amber over the stobe for better color. If the lights in the building are tungsten, you can use a full CTO to match. Good luck, donal - -- __________ Donal Philby San Diego www.donalphilby.com
