the difference between 'shall' and 'well,' if i'm not mistaken, is a
difference between grammatical persons: ]

1st person singlular & plural = shall
all other persons = will

i believe the same is true of 'should' and 'would' (think of blake's 'if
others had not been foolish, we should [meaning 'would' according to our
contemporary incorrect parlance be so').
